Tony Allwright Photo Gallery: Broomhall Flats

Tony Allwright moved to Sheffield in the 1970s. As a keen amateur photographer, he took an interest in documenting the people and buildings of many areas of Sheffield, including Broomhall.

The hundreds of photos of Broomhall that he has kindly shared with OUR Broomhall have been split into different galleries.

This gallery contains Tony’s many photos of Broomhall Flats. Now demolished and replaced with a much more sympathetic development of brick maisonettes, these ‘Brutalist’ buildings with their aerial walkways once dominated the area adjacent to Sringfield School, between Broomspring Lane and what is now Devonshire Green.

Remember: once you have clicked a photo to view it full size, you can explore the rest of the gallery using the arrow keys on your keyboard and at the bottom of the photos.
