Tony Allwright Photo Gallery: Upper Hanover St, 1979-80
Tony Allwright moved to Sheffield in the 1970s. As a keen amateur photographer, he took an interest in documenting the people and buildings of many areas of Sheffield, including Broomhall.
The hundreds of photos of Broomhall that he has kindly shared with OUR Broomhall have been split into different galleries.
This gallery contains views of Upper Hanover St around 1979-80.

The b/w photo with the caption “Upper Hanover St, May 1979” shows the white house at the far end of the terrace which was the meeting place of Broomhall Community Group when it began. It was due for demolition and nowadays use would not be permitted because of Health & Safety requirements. Around 1980-1 the group moved to the newly established Broomspring Centre (now called Broomhall Centre).
