Edward Birks lived at 24 Collegiate Crescent and was one of the Directors of the Sheffield Banking Company.
Mr Birks name shows up again in the archives catalogue relating to property he owned in Little Sheffield:
“Lease CB/1009 27 Nov 1916

The Burgesses to Benjamin Brittain, of Sheffield, cutler. A plot of ground near Little Sheffield Moor, comprising 216 square yards. For a term of 99 years. Annual rent of 18s. Lessee to build within 3 years one or more dwelling houses worth £100. Plan. 10 Jul 1792.
Endorsements: further lease to Edward Birks of Sheffield, bank manager, for a term of 20 years at an annual rent of £12, 22 Aug 1895; tenancy agreement with Fanny Unwin Birks, of Birch Cliffe, 24 Collegiate Crescent, widow, 16 Mar 1910; further lease to Fanny Birks for a term of 10 years at an annual rent of £13 8s.”
