Mr. Barnard Platts Broomhead Colton-Fox: An Introduction

Barnard Platts Broomhead Colton-Fox  was a famous solicitor, a perpetual commissioner for taking acknowledgements of deeds & for administering oaths in the Supreme Court of Judicature & notary public (firm, Broomhead, Wightman & Moore), Bank Chambers, 14 George Street, Sheffield. He used to live in the Broomhall area on 13 Broomhall Road in the 19th century. He was knocked down and killed by a passing train when crossing the line at Victoria Station on December 15th 1893. He lived in his house in Wales, near Sheffield, with his family before he died accidently. His wife, Mrs Broomhead, arranged to meet him on that day at Kiveton Park before the sad news came to her. The terrible news spread quickly after the accident happened and not long after that an inquest and verdict about Mr. Broomhead was held. His friends and family expressed their sympathies at his funeral at Todwick.
