Mr. Broomhead Colton-Fox was a famous solicitor living in the Broomhall area. He was about to take a train to Kiveton Park where his wife was waiting for him, before being killed accidentally when crossing the railway line at Victoria Station in Sheffield.
Kiveton Park is a village, the house of which have been erected by the Kiveton Park coal company for their work people; the village adjoins the Kiveton Park Colliery and is partly in the parishes of Wales, Thorpe Salvin and Aston, and about one mile south-east from Wales, with a station on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway. The population was about 1400 at the time.
